Cloughey beach clean-up -  organised by CDCA

The earlier beach clean by Kirkistown School covered the central section of the beach and inspired the Committee of the CDCA to take on the larger task of cleaning all of the beach from Slanes Point in the South to Ringbuoy Point in the North - a distance of over 1 mile.

On Saturday 20th June a small band of volunteers set out from the Warren and collected over 20 black bags of rubbish as well as some larger objects including the remains of a dolphin or porpoise which was reported to the Environment Agency.  Other volunteers cleaned parts of the beach near their own homes and the rubbish was collected later by the CDCA team.  All of the accumulated rubbish will now be taken away by Ards Council, who also supplied picker sticks, bags and gloves.  Coca Cola donated several cases of coke and bottled water.
