2024 CDCA Sand Sculpture Day Saturday 03 August 16 families spent hours on their creations in fine weather, until the rain started just as the judging had started. Some great sculptures and prizes were awarded is several categories. The pony rides were also very popular, as was the facepainting and the craft painting - and all free thanks to a small grant from Ards & North Down Borough Council.

Remembrance Sunday 12th NOVEMBER 2023

A very windy day but a large crowd turned out at the Childrens Somme Garden in Cloughey to remember those

who have given there lives that we may be free. We were joined by Kirkistown Pipe Band and two buglers who added

a wonderful atmosphere to the wreath laying ceremony.

CLOUGHEY COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR

In April 2022, a life-saving defibrillator was installed in

the former BT phone box in Cloughey village.

Cloughey and District Association organised the

installation through the Community Heartbeat Trust

with funding from Awards for All, and it will provide

emergency cardiac cover for the area.

The equipment is available should anyone suffer a cardiac arrest. This service is in addition to

the First Responders service on the Ards Peninsula.

KNOWN AS AN " AED " THE DEFIBRILLATOR TALKS YOU

THROUGH THE PROCESS TO SAVE A LIFE.  THESE AED'S

HAVE SAVED MANY LIVES AND IT IS A GREAT ASSET TO

THE VILLAGE.  AS AMBULANCE RESPONSE TIMES HAVE

INCREASED IT IS REASURING TO KNOW HELP IS AT HAND

AT A LOCAL LEVEL. USING THE AED IS STRAIGHT FORWARD

AND THE MACHINE GIVES VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS WHEN

BEING USED.

The kiosk and defibrillator will be monitored and

maintained by volunteers from the CDCA.
